American Museum of Natural History: Dioramas

Back to vacation pictures. One of the best adventures I had on the East Coast was my trip to the American Museum of Natural History, in New York City. It's full of interesting things, even if you're not a science nerd, and it's got a great mix of new exhibits and exhibits that look like they haven't changed since the 1950s or 60s.
I took a lot of pictures while here (the place is huge!) so here is round one; the dioramas. I've always been drawn to dioramas. With my own artwork I hope to someday create environments, pieces and installations that are based on reality but are also an alternate. Dioramas do just that, they're installations that strive to be reality but can never fully achieve it.

San Francisco Bay

Taking a break from posting trip photos, here are some photos of the San Francisco Bay from a bike ride I took this afternoon. Living in Berkeley now, I'm really missing being super close to the ocean. The Bay is not the same as the Pacific but I'm hoping it will still provide some inspiration in the future.

Kent Falls

Well, the studio in my new place (yes, I have a 'real' studio space) still isn't unpacked, and I still have a lot of East Coast photos to share so, here are some more.
While away I took a day to go for a hike at Kent Falls, a place I frequented with friends while in high school. Now, I think the Pacific Northwest is one of the most beautiful places ever, and one of my favorites but, what always amazes me when I'm in New England, is how green everything is in the spring and summer.

Butterfly Pavilion

Since I'm still pretty sick, and spent the day laying on the couch reading and watching Harry Potter, I thought I would post some photos from the Magic Wings, a butterfly conservatory and the first stop on my East Coast adventures.
